As nice as the W126 is, they don't really go for much.
The problem might be that he's a "newer" tech like me who's used to the luxury of OBDII, factory scantools and electronics. I didn't know what half the crap was under the hood when I first took off the air cleaner on my '85, but for me it's a fun, rewarding hobby. For him it could just be an albatross that he thought he could fix & flip real quick.
The difference between how these engines operate is staggering compared to most other vehicle manufacturers of the same or newer era.

well, he just called me back and said that someone is coming at 2:30 to buy it.
i just had no idea they went for so little money now. oh well, i guess since we all love the marque so much our sense of value for the cars can get a little skewed. don't you think?
also, he implied that the guy sounded like he wanted to pimp out the car. what a dang shame...tinted windows, spinner wheels, etc.
