I use a bolt about 2 inches long, 2 washers, 1 nut and the white plastic nut from either the headlights or the side light. On the bolt slide a washer then the plastic grommet. Then install the bolt in the linkage, then the white nut(you need to drill out the white nut so it will slide on the bolt) with the open area toward the grommet and then the washer and nut... as you tighten the nut the grommet will be pushed into place... cost about whatever you don't have laying around..
