I've been trying to get my 190Es doors to open and close like the W124s. The hinges are fine, but the catch mechanism is very creaky, especially around the 'hold' points of its swivel. I've removed the door cards, and oiled them as best I can, but it's not working as they still creak the same.

Is there some point you can oil where it will get to the mechanism, or some way of doing this?

If I remove the mechanism (as per the D.I.Y. instructions in DIY section), can I then oil it properly?
