Seeing what American's have to say about travel makes me smile...

Most of the rest of the world made do with cars' the size of or smaller than 123's (and still do for that matter). Hell, europeans used to travel all over the place in Pontons's and if you've ever looked in the back of one of them you'll notice a lot less legroom than a 123. Of course it's better to be in an S-Class than a 123 for interior room and even better to be in a long wheel base S come to think of it. But there is no reason why you can't take a decent road trip in a 123. You just have to be able to take your time with the leisurely pace of the 240D and enjoy the trip.
