the economy has a lot of people on edge and being trapped in traffic has its own litany of mental disorder triggers. I am sometimes in too much of a hurry, but I recognize it and try to tune it down. I just ignore the aggressive drivers when they pass. I do my best to just get out of their way. In general slowing or doing something to exasperate them does not pay as you will eventually get one that wants to retaliate becuase you made his lot in life that much worse.

I was driving from Dayton to Columbus one winter many years back and it was snowing and icy. I was pretty much alone on the road and only one lane of the 2 lane highway was cleared. I was in my excursion which is 6000 pounds and 4WD but still only driving about 40mph. I had a guy in a mustang of all cars come up behind me and start flashing his lights. after a few minutes of disbelief in this guys disregard to conditions, I slowed to about 30 and pulled into the uncleared lane of about 6 inches of snow to let him by. I got back in the cleared lane after he passed and continued on. not 10 minutes later I crested a small hill and there was my buddy in the mustang backward and pointing 45 degrees into the air on the right side berm. My first thought was to roll down the window and wave to him and smile as I went by. I slowed and rolled down the window and asked if he needed help, and the idiot flips me off like its my fault. I just went on. I hardly saw any cars on the road so no telling how long he was going to be there, but I didnt feel at all guilty leaving him to his own devices
