So heres another problem while I'm resting and the 240d engine is in the shop.

My daughter's boy friend ("80" 300 SD) and my non computer neighbor ("85" 300 D) seem to have the same transmission problem so does anyone know if the band / bands can be adjusted from the outside or inside for that matter, on either of these cars? we adjusted the vac modulator on the '80" and it "CLUNKS" and flairs between gears so after trying different settings, we wound up setting it ,more or less back where it was . On the "85" we replaced the modulator and it still CLUNKS between gears. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

All this only re affirms my love of the manual 240d
