I can't find the right thread

I am about ready to put this little jewel 240D back together. The head I bought on Ebay is really used and abused I think, so I am having my head checked for flatness and I am going to use it because it was just gone through. I am taking the whole cam assembly from the Ebay head and will transfer that to the head I have.
I was told the engine was locked up and wouldn't turn and I assumed that to be the case and never tried. Sometimes we neglect to go that extra step and regret it. I am sure now the engine would turn over. The cam broke on the sixth lobe, but that lobe could still lift the valve. Lobes 7 and 8 came to rest with the lobes "up", meaning valves were down and the little engine shows no damage. So I should have turned it over and set it in a good position for dis-assembly, the usual number 1 TDC and on compression. But I didn't and now I don't know how to set if for re-assembly.
Now to re-assemble, I will set the #1 at TDC and install the cam with the lobes up on number one and the mark on the cam lined up with the line on the tower. But then what do I have to do to set the IP. Will do the drip test when the thing is ready, but how do I get it close. Can you tell me or show me the right thread. Thanks.
