Do I need to replace any other hardware along with the pads such as anti-rattle clips, etc? Where is the brake paste applied?

Also, what are the steps involved in replacing pad wear sensors and their wiring? Maybe it is self-explanatory once I'm in there, but I'd like to know some pointers from people who've done this.
