not really. I think everyone would know what you're talking about, though! A hex bit is the tool used to loosen/tighten a socket head (allen??) fastener. A hex head bolt has an externally hexagonal head.
I guess it doesn't really MATTER what you call them, as long as we can all agree to call them the same thing. Shall we take a poll????
