First mistake.
You did something right there. Can you claim insurance?
OTOH, how do you know he did receive the package? I have signed for a package and when I got it into the house, noticed it was for the neighbor.
I always use UPS or Fedex. If the buyer wants it cheaper, no problem, no guarantees of the item arriving.
