he's making a joke, a palm V could be called the iphone of 1999, except it didnt have a phone, a diehard following or a hipster ad campaign. it did have 2MB of memory and a 16MHz processor =)

Palm/Palmone still makes PDA's (which, you might say, would compete with an Iphone) but they dont make anything in the netbook/notebook size.
