I had one of those VPR v6's in a volvo wagon. I got good service out of it but many people had cam trouble. I changed my oil ever 1500 miles iirc to be sure. It is a very torquey engine and makes a lovely moan when you rev it out. It transformed the volvo from a heavy feeling trucky car to a light feeling car with sporting pretensions. It has a main bearing girdle which resembles a cosworth indy engine from below.

That block was the basis for the over 1000 hp turbo renault F1 engines.

And the BMW 2002 block was the basis for the 1000+ turbo BMW F1 engines of the same era.

its amazing what can be done with turbocharging!
