I have a '91 420 SEL. Same engine except for displacment.
No plastic shield.
In the filter "kit" you will find a larger rubber O-Ring. That goes under the oil filter housing cap.
A small aluminum washer. That goes under the oil filter housing bolt.
And a copper O-Ring. It doesn't go anywhere.
A whole bunch-a-benzes use the same filter. It goes on one of them.
Mine takes 6 1/2 quarts to fill.
