When I got my car, the foam was completely gone. You could see some sort of glue residue here and there. I am also using zip tied stuff from Home Depot. I do have to replace the zip ties about every two years as they get brittle.

So far, no corrosion on the pipe. If it does corrode, then why not cover the fittings as well?
