For God sake I was at the CVS one day and there was a young kid about 22-23 around my sons age and the kid was crying about having to work a whole 5 hours on finals week. BOOO WHOO. When I was young I worked and went to College. Things are made easier now a days. No reason why he cant do what I did nearly 30 years ago.
As they say, youth is wasted on the young.

I wish I had a clue when I was 20, I wouldn't have spent 20 years working for other people, but you live and learn (sometimes).

Today's kids are probably no worse than we were, and they probably have a more realistic view of "job security." We were the last generation that actually had some expectation of spending an entire career doing one thing in one place. I think current 20-year olds understand that they will have many different "jobs," and live in many different places (probably several different countries) if they want to succeed. I think the next 30 years will be more interesting than the last 30, I hope I'm around that long to play in the new economy.

Regarding the size of government; I would like to see it smaller, but I can play whatever game is available. If government contracts are available, I'll take them; if there are more private projects, thats fine; if the interesting projects are in china, that's where I'm going. It doesn't really matter, you make your own opportunities. Public policy will always be a generation behind the curve.
