Current insurance business models work by 1) sharing the exposure of risk over a large base; 2) eliminating or reducing the risk of exposure; 3) minimizing the payout for insured losses; 4) reducing operational costs for administering the business; and 5) increased return on the investment of premiums that do not have to be in cash reserves.
Point being, there are several ways to run or ruin an insurance program.
