new injectors, now worse mileage?

I just installed a set of rebuilt bosch injectors and took off on a thousand mile road trip to NY in my 85 300TD. So far I have dropped 2 mpg and have noticably rougher idle when cold.
The smoke at idle and under heavy acceleration that prompted the injector change is gone, but I can't figure out why my mileage got worse.

These injectors were sold to me as bosch rebuilds, but look like new ones manufactured in India. I have not yet sent in my old ones as cores and am wondering if I should wait and have them rebuilt and return these new injectors since my old ones are the german made originals.
Has anyone had similar experiences with an injector swap?
I am guessing that I had at least one leaker in my old injectors that caused my smoke, but I am wondering if the spray pattern may be poor on the new ones causing the poor mileage.
