Joe --- resetting the memory will NOT help you get the seat up.

If a previously stored position had the seat position UP, then pressing the button would bypass the seat reclining switch on the door and the seat would move to the "stored position".

You should be able to remove the seat "buttons" and be able to get (spray) some contact cleaner into the switch without removing the door panel.
