Now if I go buy, say a 'vette or a 560SL, folks would say, "Oh, look at Bill. He must be going through a mid-life crisis." When in fact I've wanted one of those cars for a good 20+ years but couldn't afford one until now. Fortunately for me, I don't really give a rats arse what anyone else thinks.
The problem is that I actually wanted a vette when I was 12, and I would have taken a 560SL when I was 25. Now I'm 51, I could afford them, and I'm not really interested in owning either of those cars.
