Seat Switch Parts and Repair - Breakage

My 1983 300SD has seat switch without memory.

Several good explanations on cleaning and fixing contacts for switches
that stop working are already posted.

My problem is the pins break that hold the button parts.

When I go to the pick-a-part and junkyards I open the switches and just get the
pins that the buttons attach to.

On this car the switches do not have a connector on the back and cannot be
simply unplugged and a replacement plugged in.

So my question is, has anyone got a good answer to the plastic pins breaking ?

I have repaired several with piano wire and resin, graphite tube, etc..
Now I am thinking that maybe I should just machine some out of aluminum or steel.

Are these internal parts available anywhere ? Did MB ever improve on this ?

Thanks all.
