The amazing thing to me is not that the catholic church, or any church for that matter, says these things but that billions of people believe in and find some sort of perverted comfort in this kind of crap. And worse yet when the purveyors of this crap get caught, put in jail, and shown up for what they are their poor, benighted followers keep supporting them.
