Even if the civil war there has been going on for several decades that still beg's the question what happend between 1960 (the last date in your article) and the start of that civil war. Civil war didn't start because "the west" decided to invade Congo in 1990's and plunder it's wealth. Thats a typical liberal facile paternalistic oversimplification of the realities of life in Africa.
