I did a search before posting this question and found a reference to Wix Filters. Anyway, I followed up and found this website: http://www.wixfilters.com, which has a wealth of great info, including, when you finally drill down to the details on the filter you need, it tells how much air it flows. In the case of a 300 SE filter it's 575 CFM. The filter for the 190 E 2.6 only flows 435 CFM.

Under normal operation it probably doesn't make all that much difference, but when you go WOT it probably would. I'll use what I've got 'til I find the right one for my car. Anyone need a perfect 190 E 2.6 air filter housing? ;-)
