Any oil in the cooling system is a bad thing as far as I'm concerned with my vehicles.

The hose was new when I did the head gasket 6 weeks ago, so it's not old.

Yes, the hose swells under pressure, about 20lbs of it.

I have a new coolant tank and will be replacing it, keeping the old one as a spare.

The radiator was new this past summer, so "nope" on the catastrophic failure of the trans cooler.
