Thank you to both of you for the encouragement about the 2006. I'm not sure it is going to help me, but I appreciate it just the same. I am afraid of getting burned with big maintenance bills.

It sounds like the 2006 was one of the years when Mercedes was really suffering with complaints, perhaps in large part because of the SBC. It sound like things may have started to turn around with the 2007, even though the reality is that the new motor has not been around very long. I don’t know if I will be able to pull the trigger on the 2006, considering what I am learning as I read about the SBC.

Regarding the 10-year warranty, that is only 6 more years for the 2006. I owned my 1995 E320 for 13-years now and I was hoping to keep the next one at least as long. After all, that is part of the attraction with a diesel. I will have to wait and see if I fall for the car after the test drive, but even then I may have to keep my checkbook in my pocket.

I think it might be like always going back to that same bad relationship with an ex girlfriend.
