Since I bought the car used, I don't know how and where the Nokia carkit is wired. It was on the car already. It fits my phone and it's great to use the microphone, handsfree, but here's the problem. As soon as the phone is in the holder, it switches to receive signal from the external antenna but the reception drops dramatically when this happens. I have been avoiding the carkit for this reason...no reception.

There should be the Nokia control box somewhere, but where is it usually installed (how long are the wires to the phone holder?) Could be behind the radio, in there somewhere but I have yet to remove the pass. carpet to find out.

An aftermarket cellular antenna is mounted to the rear window but the car has a Hirschmann am/fm/cell antenna, can I use that instead.

Also, I would like to connect the radio muting function, is there a special adapter for it?

I need so ideas as to what should be there and how to re-install the system for better function and reception. Thanks for the hlep, Chris
