I can't remember if I actually measured the hanger wire before I made the tool. I think the 2mm (for the W124) might have been from the service manual literature. I just tried it in the new cylinder's slot before I started cutting up hangers. I still have it hiding in the glovebox. I think I'll go measure it sometime, just for reference. Having fancy calipers does have its benefits.
