I would suggest in the future people be careful about testing with 12 volts..
many a dash in automobiles have stuff which works on lower voltage than that...
many with 5 volts in the old days... so you risk burning out something in the process of testing it... which brings up something else... what caused the resistors to burn out in the first place...????? Perhaps some voltage or current reducer is in the circuit and has burned out and should be fixed before reinstalling the new parts.
