I'm trying to setup a gtg here in San Luis Obispo/Pismo Beach area for all Benzsporters and Mercedesshoppers to join.
The reason it's in SLO/PB is because it's right dead in the middle of California's coast. That way Bay Area and LA people drive equally to meet up
Here are the people who showed interest in it, or who are local:
-Babus (maybe Fad along w/ him?)
-Eurorides420
-VodkaG (local)
-Sepehr C55 (local)
-Me of course
-Mark Cummins
Few more are uncertain at this time.
So far these are from Benzsport.
The Plan:
Saturday August 3rd 2002
Since most of you have a 4 hours drive (at 70mph...like you're gonna abide that..) we'd meet up at 11am at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, off the 101.
Once everyone is here, we'll do a group photoshoot (I 'm thinking benzsport banner )
Next, a cruise/caravan thru downtown SLO (mind you downtown is small

) heading to Pismo Beach.
Once in Pismo Beach, we'll have lunch there. There are several restaurants there. Mainly seafood and steak house. Actually there is a good Mexican Restaurant we could go to. I'll have to see for parking first.
Once we all ate and are full, we'll hit up highway one for a nice drive on coastal and windy roads. Maybe as far up as Gorda Springs. It's twisty out there!
If you have any suggestions as to what we could do after lunch, before lunch, or while eating, let me know!
Again, the plan:
Date: Saturday August 3rd
Time: 11am
Place: Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
What we do? Eat, Drive, Pics, maybe we can goto Hearst Castle if anyone wants to go there.
Directions to San Luis Obispo
From the bay area:
*Take the 101 South all the way down to San Luis Obispo.
From the L.A. area:
*Take the 101 North all the way down to San Luis Obispo.
For everyone:
At the stop sign (California Highway Patrol HQ's right across from you if you're coming from LA, or 7/11 on the right if you're coming from SF), make a right then go straight. Go thru stoplight (Foothill blvd crosses there) and keep going straight. You're now on the Cal Poly Campus. Keep doing straight, passing stadium on the right, all the way to a stop sign. Then go thru the little fence and follow the pathway. IT make a right turn and comes to a stop. Then keep going straight. About the 3rd or 4th stop sign there is a road onthe left, right where the performing art center is at. Keep going till you see the parking structure onthe right. We'll meet on top of it.
Here's a map. Just follow the darkened path.
Don't take Cal Poly Exit! IT's California BLVD for everyone!
As for where the heck SLO is, well it's about 1.5 hrs north of Santa Barbara. If you're coming from LA on the 101, you can always take the 154 in Santa Barbara, drive thru it all the way to the end until you hit the 101 N again. You save 30 minutes (but speed limit is 45-55mph) and the drive is nicer
So guys and gals, let's make this happen!
