Not sure I agree with you on the point that the M104 is easy to work on. Most all the accessories on the front of the motor are a pain to deal with, serp belt can be a real problem, tensioner is a crummy design, etc. My '91 Exploder is about the easiest thing I've ever worked on.

Yes, they used the M103 belt tensioner system, not a great design. Fortunately however, they changed / improved the design in mid MY95.
