In these odd situations, I found it easier to go visit the MB dealership body shop or other shops that are familiar with MBs and just ask a technician what is the trick to opening the truck. As you know, the vacuum lock mechanism apparently has failed, but there is generally an easy fix. Don't get out the crow bar just yet! Good Luck!
