ATF
As a truck driver, there are a lot of products available out there that are red, and are certified for use in the fuel tank (i.e., Marvel's Mystery Oil). Agricultural Fuel or Offroad Use Fuel has red dye in it. The fine for first time use of off-road fuel is $10K, therefore . . . if they wish to fine you, they have to take a sample and test for the chemical presence of the dye. CA tried to get me one time at their inspection station, and I pulled out the can of Marvel's (empty that I kept in my truck), and when they tried to fine me for secondary thing, in case they couldn't make the offroad use ticket stick . . . I stuck the can under thier noses, and pointed out where it said it WAS authorized as a fuel additive. They decided to give up on their harrassment of me at that point and walked away . . . and no ticket.
Incidently, on all state and federal facilities where they find such things as discarded ATF, paint thinners, etc. They are all poured into the fuel tanks at the fuel storage . . . . standard policy for years . . . so I wouldn't necessarily worry about what's coming out the tailpipe. It probably has all that crap in it anyways, from a military base cleanup . . . =)) At least the state, county and federal vehicles . . . LOL. Did anyone wonder what they do with all that special collections they do for all the checmicals? They put it in the county fuel supplies and burn it off . . . the least of the evils.
ATF helped save my engine in a pinch . . . and I still do dump ATF in my tanks rather than carry around partial bottles of it. However, 2-stroke oil is better, and improves mileage, but doesn't have the injector cleaner properties. However, USA Lube, Lucas, and other such additive do contain the injector cleaner and are ultimately better for the engine, improve fuel mileage and clean the infectors without clogging or heating them up. I have used all in my MBZ, Honda CR-V and my Peterbilt.
You'll find out for yourself what you feel most comfortable with.
