Jim,
The cost for the unit was $189.
It is a Copier/Scanner/Printer.
It can make color copies as well.
It can do 1200 x 2400 dpi. Everything I have printed or copied has come out beautifully; I think it's the best "copy"
copy reproduced by a copy machine.
It is also incredibly easy to use! It shows a visual diagram of the remaining ink too. A lot of neat/handy features. However, it doesn't use the normal parallel port. It is wired via the USB port.
I, regretfully, decided to go shopping at BestBuy, thinking I'd get a good deal (I don't know if I did or not - compared to other retailers). I did have to purchase a USB cord (6 ft.) for $30 in addition to the printer cost. The salesman told me that I needed ink cartridges also, because the ones that come with it are only "samples." I think that guy was talking out of his @ss because I've printed many many pages and I still have FULL ink. I also passed on the 3 yr warranty for a gazillion dollars.
I was also going to buy a new cell phone, but the store reps were so rude and not helpful... so I walked away!
And then, on my way out, I was in line for 20 minutes (comp trouble?)... getting really irritated. And then I get up to the register and they run my credit card... only to find out their machines aren't working. Then the manager had to come over and give me a HUGE ordeal because my mom's name was on the card, and mine wasn't. Needless to say, I handled it "professionally," but in an authoritative & stern manner; thus leaving the store with what I rightfully wanted! (I bought a CDBurner also). In any event, I finally got out of that mad-house.... and I can assure you, I'll never go back!
And when you buy the printer, you get a $30 mail in rebate for credit @ BestBuy (looks like I *might* be going back...)
