Follow up on this issue
Hi friends. I managed to get another pump from an older model. I just remove the electric motor and vacuum pump assembly and attached it to the old one. It worked for 6 weeks but eventually the electronics burned the 2nd electric motor/pump. I found a used one, same model # 220 008 06 48 in good working condition. Installed it and working properlly except that there is a pulsating sound, like a heart beat in the area of the pump that goes away after a while.
Is that the result of not programming the system to that pump? If that is the problem, how much should I be charged for getting into a shop and have the system programmed? I went to a mechanic today and he said that he cannot tell how much would that be because he does not know if that is the real issue. I think that attaching the computer and reading the codes or fault should have a flat fee cost.
Is it costly to get the software and attachments for a do it yourself for this car?
Please reply. Thank you. Darrel.
