Perhaps conservative people generally accept those proscriptions on their own sex, morality and family. Then, political candidates, eager to please ( read "pander") use those moral standards as the means to demonstrate their worthiness to be elected. Those political candidates, lie, of course. Or, they excuse their personal failures as not important.

This lying is not limited to one side, or the other. Liberals tend to promote themselves as generous and caring about others' needs. Yet, as a group, liberals do not use their own money in charitable giving. Some of the most liberal/progressive on this board are also among the most prolific purveyors of vitriol. Yet free speech must mean free speech for even that speech you hate or it becomes simply allowing speech with which you agree.
