I get 21-24 mpg in my non-turbo 300cd, and treat the accelerator pedal as an On/Off switch. The mileage is never lower than 21, even in city driving with the A/C on.

With Diesel costing more than RUG, it costs nearly the same to fuel a sub-20 mpg V8 gas hog anyway.
