layback I think you're right ... at least that explanation makes sense in the "Occam's Razor" spirit of things. But here's the weird thing: I took the muffler hangers OFF to adjust the exhaust, and it still stays stuck up snug against the bumper ... not only that, but crooked. I cannot get it to straighten out and stay away from the bumper. I also replaced the hanger that attaches to the subframe up in front of the driver's rear wheel. Maybe the fact that that's new and tight is pulling the exhaust too high on one side? My other thought is that I somehow managed to bend the exhaust, although that seems like it would have taken a lot. I guess if it's the new hanger being too tight, it will loosen up over time. But still, this is weird. The left (driver's side) tailpipe is definitely higher than the other one, and is pushed up against the bumper. That side of the hanger bracket on the back is totally mashed together, too. Like I said, it stays there even when the muffler hangers are removed. Huh. The rubber buffer on top of the hanger bracket is still there and looks A-OK. The whole thing's just .... crooked ...
