I had the same problem with my 190D. Water is leaked thru the lock push down button into the lid. Water is held inside the lid re-enforcement brackets until the lid is opened, then it cascades down into the trunk.

This is what I did. I removed the trunk lock and put an o-ring ( about the size of the push button ) round the push button and re-installed. No more leak. Well, it did not rain that heavy since in San Diego.
