I am trying to replace the hood star assembly of my 96 C220. The old Star broke and removing its base was not the hard but putting the new assembly is becoming rocket science.

I think all thats needed is to push in and twist the base to the top part but man oh man... it keeps on sliding out of alignment....

Am I doing this right?
