The early ones were recalled for solder issues, yours sounds like other problems. The center vent not working is an indicator that you either have inadequate vacuum or the vacuum pods are leaking, should be a few articles in the DIY section on checking/changing vacuum pods. Also search aspirator blower and cabin temp sensor.
