About the same break as mine
I originally blamed the failure of my 240D on the fact that the previous owner failed to put three of the four headbolts in the very front of the head. But that was not the real cause. The real cause was the failed vacuum pump which dumped steel trash down the chain gallery, jamming up on the crankshaft sprocket and it almost made trash out of that just overhauled engine. Check that vacuum pump!
