Need an answer...

I sold my truck and just put my '90 jetta diesel on the road.I would like to know if pulling a small utility trailer will be to much for my car.I just put a brand new clutch in it and it is working great! But I would still like to be able to go to home depot, camping an bike riding with my family and the like. The owners manual says the car was intended for passengers only but gives specifications and max weights for towing a trailer.
The car now has 110k on it.The previous owner pulled a single axle car carrier with it.That's why I had to put a clutch in it.It has a hitch and wiring for a trailer.Anyone have a setup like this on a smaller car?Should I just buy another truck?I don't want to pay insurance on a 3rd vehicle and I am NOT putting a hitch on my BENZ!Although I could probably tow a 5000lb boat with it.Any advice guys?
