The battery cable, as far as I can see looks OK, but there are add-ons on the end of the bolt which too me look sort of butchered, so those could maybe be improved upon or even relocated to the starter terminal or fusebox.
The RPMs look fine, it's not stalling at all is it?
The cable thing I believe is just for the hood release cable.
The last pic is a part called the EZL, which is a German accronym for the ignition control unit. It's for the spark plugs, in other words.
