Vacuum pump& brake Booster question

This morning i noticed that my brake pedal was more firm than usual. Then when i went to turn off the car it took about 4 seconds for it stumble and shut off. I thought there was a vacuum leak somewhere in the system so I just capped off the vacuum nipple that sends vacuum to all the accessories this morning. My brakes were still hard, but a bit better than before.

Well when i had more time this afternoon I saw that the vent line on the vacuum pump was full of oil, I disconnected it and ran the motor and some oil sprayed out. Ok so the diaphragm in the pump needs to be replaced.

What doesn't make sense to me is, why are my brakes so firm? The pedal goes in like normal for about a inch and half and then its like hard as a rock. Could the vacuum pump have ruined my brake booster.

The vacuum pump is still putting out some vacuum but I guess not as much as before.....

Any ideas? Thanks
