Stop and think. The point is, why expect people to behave any differently that we would? He asserts that captured combatants are only saying it was Abu Gharib and Gitmo torture that motivated them to go to battle because he thinks that's what we want to hear. I'm saying that it's entirely reasonable that such a thing would motivate people to take up arms.
