My wife and I plus our 6 year old daughter are planning a trip to California this July. The plan is to land in LAX or Orange County, rent a car (though, not a convertible - too expensive) and cruise north from there hugging the coast line: Santa Barbara, San Louis Obispo, then PCH-1 through Big Sur to Monteray then continue to hug the coast up to San Fran. We plan on taking a leisurely drive stopping here and there for some beach time, site seeing, and some good food We've got about 2 weeks to do it. For those of you who know the area - are there special places of interest that are on the way that we should consider visiting even if it means getting off course a bit to see it? We enjoy nature, beautiful scenery and our 6yr old loves water, ocean, and mermaids...

Know any Mermaids we can visit?! ... hehe
I should mention that we also plan on visiting Disney Land (of course...

before we start heading north.
Also, once in SF there was a small number of things on my list that I wanted to see (from guys point of view): Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, ride the trolley, see Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. I think this is the town where Bruce Lee used to live - my idol when I was a teenager.. I wonder if there is anything to see from his life in SF, if anyone knows let me know.
