Alternators are pretty easy to rebuild, most models have kits available on the shelf at Napa and Parts Plus.
Usually the diodes are soldered, you will need a 100w+ soldering gun, I was in a pinch on the last one I did and used both my 60w irons. It barely melted the solder enough to remove and install.
