Not sure about the wire at all but I can't resist saying that I just bought a 95 E300d and feel the sound system in the car is outstanding. If ever I have an issue or need maintenance I pack it off and send it to Becker in North Jersey. Could never understand why everyone is in a hurry to remove the Becker and toss it. My car came with a set of Bridgestone Tires and I can't wait to wear them out so that I can toss them. Years ago a driver stood a car, literally, on it's nose in the rain. Always felt it had something to do with the Bridgestones. Good luck in you hunt. Someone will be able to help,.
