Interesting, I've been using the g-tech for some years now and I've never had results all over the place, as a matter of fact the results always are very consistent and very accurate (as I've said I've tested it a couple of times against the drag strip timing equipment). If used properly it is very accurate, even tested it against a race logic performance box and the result were very similar.

agreed, but thats only if you already own and iphone or an ipod.
There are also similar apps for windows mobile and android phones which have built-in accelerometers. There is one for the android that uses both the accelerometer and gps in order to get a more accurate result (
