Type of adhesive for rubber fuel mounts?

I recently had the o-ring located between the fuel strainer and the fuel tank fail, sending about 1-2 gallons of diesel fuel all over my trunk.

With that mess cleaned up I went ahead and changed the seal, had the tank steam cleaned and acid washed, and removed the old rubber mounts that the tank sits on inside the trunk.

With new rubber mounts from Mercedes, I'm wondering what type of adhesive I should use to secure the rubber to the tank itself. I know Mercedes used some sort glue but I'm not sure what its modern equivalent would be, maybe some sort of contact cement or silicon product?

I suppose I need something that will bond to metal without pulling it off and rubber without degraded it.

Any suggestions much appreciated,

Mike.
